February 2019 – From the Editors

EDITORIAL NOTE

The Halloween is far behind us, this month people celebrate the feast of love. We, however, decided to give you a contrary front page emanating with gloomy darkness; instead of a loving couple, you will see twin brothers on it. They come from the infamous city of Salem. Their tattoos are black, kept in a horror style and may give you real goosebumps.

These are not the only images taken alive (or dead!) from some frightening movies. We had also prepared an interview with Smyku, who created the „fantasy horror‟ style in which the macabre motifs interweave with the fairytale elements. He won many prices on the conventions in 2018 (in Poland and abroad), which was a good occasion to ask him a few questions.

Black tattoos are also made by Haxan, who identifies this style with her character, Unlike Salem twins, she prefers geometric patterns that cover larger areas on the skin.

In this issue, there are representatives of multicolour compositions. Meet Fabbing and his tattoos that resemble illustrations in nature atlases, Grecha Gorbunov with joyful cartoon-like artworks and Tomáš Šaray, whose projects may remind you of frames from a movie tape. read more…
